How Do Affiliate Programs Work

Affiliate programs are one of the web’s most effective marketing techniques. They create a win-win situation by which site A refers a visitor to site B, and site B pays site A a commission if the visitor makes a purchase.
Affiliate programs are one of the web’s most effective marketing techniques. They create a win-win situation by which site A refers a visitor to site B, and site B pays site A a commission if the visitor makes a purchase. The referrer site (affiliate), can make money with no overhead (no product, no warehouse, no collection risk). On the other hand, the destination site (vendor) receives a steady stream of qualified leads from hundreds, maybe thousands of affiliate sites, and doesn’t have to spend a dime unless a visitor makes a purchase.
The way it works is like this: the vendor gives the affiliate specific HTML code that it must use on its site to create a link to the vendor’s site. This code contains an embedded ID number that allows the vendor to know when an incoming visitor comes to them by clicking the link on the affiliate site.

The vendor’s servers will then set a cookie (a time sensitive electronic identification mechanism) in the visitor’s computer so that every time he comes back to the vendor’s site, the vendor’s servers will ‘remember’ that he was originally referred to them by the affiliate, and will pay him a commission when the visitor makes a purchase.

This makes it possible for the affiliate to make a commission even if the visitor doesn’t purchase anything the first time, but comes back and buys later. Also, it is not necessary that the visitor enter the vendor’s site through the affiliate’s link other than the first time, since the vendor’s servers will identify the cookie and will know that the visitor was originally referred to them by the affiliate.

At the vendor’s discretion, the cookies can be set up to expire that same day, remain active indefinitely, or anything in between (vendors usually call the duration of a cookie the “referral period”). For this reason, it is better to choose vendor partners that offer long referral periods (120 days is considered very good). This increases the affiliate’s chances of success, since very few people will buy on their first visit, although exceptions do occur with vendors that enjoy superb brand recognition and feature user friendly interfaces, like Amazon.com (the pioneer of affiliate programs) who, in spite of keeping cookies alive for only 24 hours, is able to generate a significant portion of its sales in the first few minutes after a visitor has clicked into their site.

Untuk menghindari pencurian username sama password anda ada beberapa tips yang bisa jadi perhatian kita semua.
1. Untuk menghindari phishing atau kemungkinan kejahatan lain, jangan login ke situs PayPal dari link di email atau situs lain (banyak sekali email palsu yang memancing orang untuk mengunjungi dan ke situs PayPal palsu), selalu buka browser baru dan ketikan langsung alamat situs PayPal.

2. Jangan download attachments dari email yang mengaku dari PayPal, atau menyuruh anda untuk menginstall update software ke komputer anda, PayPal tidak pernah mengirimkan attachment dalam email, pergunakan account anda dengan bijak

4. Jangan buat password PayPal anda sama dengan password anda di website lain (seperti password email, forum, iklanbaris, dll) karena pemilik website lain dapat melihat email dan password anda pada website mereka

5. Untuk meningkatkan kemanan account PayPal anda jadilah Verified member

Jika anda telah mendaftar di bagian expanded untuk menjadi Verified member PayPal , PayPal akan mengirimkan 4 digit nomor keamanan ke statement bulanan kartu kredit anda selanjutnya, jangan meminta 4 digit nomor tersebut dari telp customer service bank tempat kartu kredit anda. Hanya anda yang boleh mengetahui 4 digit nomor tersebut untuk menghindari penyalahgunaan account PayPal anda, anda juga dapat melihat statement kartu kredit anda jika bank anda mempunyai fasilitas online banking untuk statement kartu kredit, 4 digit nomor tersebut akan tercamtum 3-4 hari setelah anda mendaftar menjadi Verified member PayPal

7. Sebelum melakukan transaksi menggunakan PayPal dari suatu website periksa dahulu privacy dan kemanannya dan pastikan website tersebut bukan penipuan dengan menghubungi mereka, jangan bertransaksi dengan website yang pemiliknya tidak dapat dihubungi, cari tahu orang lain yang pernah bertransaksi dengan mereka bagaimana reputasinya di forum atau website lain, lebih baik lagi jika website tersebut sudah di verifikasi oleh Verisign, Hacker save atau verifikasi keamanan lainnya, pastikan juga logo Verisign, Hacker save atau website keamanan lain jika tercantum diwebsite tersebut di link ke website verifikasi masing-masing, jika tidak anda perlu mencurigai website tempat anda akan melakukan transaksi tersebut, lebih baik lagi jika website tersebut dilengkapi SSL secured yaitu tanda gembok berwarna kuning disebelah kanan bawah browser yang berarti website tersebut memiliki keamanan berlapis

I am often asked these questions. And, the answer many people expect is : the program that pays the most. However, the point that many rookie affiliates miss is that just because mortgage, gambling, and credit card programs are paying the most per sale or per lead dosen’t mean that you will ever make any money promoting their products. In fact, the overwhelming majority of affiliates never earn a dime. Most are lured in by the promise of easy riches, discover that it’s not so easy, shortly thereafter, and then give up before ever earning their first paycheck.

So, how do you earn that first paycheck from an affiliate program?

1. Pick an affiliate program that fits the theme of your site. This is obvious, but as I stated above, many people are lured in by the temptations of quick and easy money from higher paying programs. You should never have to change the content of your website to match your affiliate program, either. Make the programs work for you, not against you.

2. Choose a program that pays per sale over per lead. Some affiliate programs pay a percentage for every sale made and some affiliate programs pay per lead, or a certain action taken by the prospective customer, such as filling out a loan application. The per lead programs seem like they should have the higher conversion rates, but this is just not true. I’ve repeatedly had more success with pay per sale, rather than per lead. My theory is that people are bombarded with these forms and applications and sales pitches everyday, so they tend to block them out. Time is extremely valuable, especially in today’s society. To get credit for a sale with these programs, people must invest time that they simply don’t have or don’t want to use signing up for these offers. It is much easier just to buy something online, than it is to invest time online doing work. That’s why information products sell so well online, despite the fact that many times the information for sale is available free online, if you have the time to spend gathering it.

3. Pick an affiliate program that offers a wide variety of items for sale and preferably, one that offers dynamic content ads. You should always pay attention to what’s hot and don’t be afraid to rotate items that you promote. Just because something sold well yesterday, doesn’t mean it will sell well today or tomorrow. If you run a website that promotes books, for example, you would probably want to rotate into your website ads promoting the current week’s bestsellers. Visitors to your site will thank you for the fresh content, even if it is an advertisement. The easiest way to do this is with an affiliate program that delivers dynamically generated ads based on your established criteria.

4. Choose a well-known merchant. Trust is a very important factor in converting sales. More times than not, a customer is going to buy from the merchant that they know and recognize. Many smaller merchants will increase the percentage they offer to affiliates as a way of try and drive more traffic to their site and to promote their brand. Not surprisingly, many of these merchants come and go. It’s safer and more profitable to go with the big names. You’re also more likely to get paid (and on time!) by these merchants.

5. Pick an affiliate program that sells products that you have tried and like. If you have had a good experience making a purchase from a company, see if they have an affiliate program you can join. It is much easier to promote a product that you like, and your product endorsement will come across as more authentic. And, if the visitor to your site tries and like the product as well, you gain instant credibility and trust, which will lead to future sales.

Firefox merupakan salah satu browser yang paling banyak dipakai oleh pengguna internet. Untuk memaksimalkan kinerja dari firefox kita bisa mensetting beberapa bagian dari firefox sehingga bisa lebih maksimal lagi dalam kinerjanya sehingga kita bisa browsing dengan cepat.
Berikut ini ada beberapa tips dan trik yang bisa kita lakukan untuk memaksimalkan kinerja firefox. silahkan ikuti langkah-langkah berikut ini :
1. Buka FireFox anda. (Sebaiknya gunakan versi terbaru)
2. Pada address bar, ketik about:config kemudian enter
3. Klik 2x pada network.http.max-connection, ganti digit angka tersebut menjadi 48
4. Klik 2x pada network.http.max-connection-per-server, ganti digit angka tersebut menjadi 24
5. Klik 2x pada network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy, ganti digit angka tersebut menjadi 12
6. Klik 2x pada network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server, ganti digit angka tersebut menjadi 6
7. Klik 2x pada network.http.pipelining. Pastikan di kolom Value (paling kanan) sudah berubah menjadi true
8. Klik 2x pada network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, ganti digit angka tersebut menjadi 8
9. Klik 2x pada network.http.proxy.pipelining. Pastikan di kolom Value (paling kanan) sudah berubah menjadi true
10. Klik kanan dimana saja (asal di tempat kosong)
11. Sorot New, Klik Integer
12. Ketik nglayout.initialpaint.delay pada kolom yang muncul
13. Klik OK
14. Ketik 0 (nol) pada kolom yang muncul
15. Klik OK
16. Selesai, silahkan keluar dari tab about:config
17. Refresh Firefox anda
